Hannah McGechie
She/her
I am a queer, white, cisgender woman (she/her pronouns), living and working on unceded Annishnabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa, Ontario). I am a Registered Social Worker, psychotherapist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and provide therapy to individuals ages 12+. My work in the field of mental health began in 2007 and I completed my Masters of Social Work at Carleton University in 2011. I spent the following decade working in the social services sector with children, youth, and adults from 2SLGBTQ+ communities. I opened my independent psychotherapy practice in 2021, and narrative, somatic, feminist, and anti-oppressive frameworks guide my work. I work with people who have all sorts of reasons for coming to therapy, including reclaiming their lives and bodies from trauma and chronic stress; exploring sexual, romantic, and gender identity; wanting more emotional regulation and capacity to be with emotions; navigating the world as a neurodivergent person; and sharing their lives with fatphobia, sizeism, and disordered eating.
