Kimberley Wideman

Hi, I'm Kim. I will meet you as I am with joy, authenticity, kindness and curiosity. And I will carry with me my skills and knowledge as a Certified Child Life Specialist, a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, an Equine Facilitated Wellness and Learning provider, a Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor, along with years of experience offering mental health support and case management to victims of crime and tragic circumstances in community agencies. My training in Kinesiology, Applied Counselling, and Trauma will also show up and join us on our journey. All of these pieces of my puzzle have fostered in me a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, honouring the beauty and power of working somatically, from the bottom up, and honing my skills in trauma-specific practice with humans and equines.

I integrate EQUUSOMA® Horse-Human Trauma Recovery into my equine practice, which blends Somatic Experiencing® and trauma and attachment neuroscience in horse-human interaction and healing. I am currently also a training assistant for EQUUSOMA® as well as the Program Liaison.

I work with children, youth, adults, families, and groups facing trauma, stress, grief and loss, life transitions, and anxiety. I also have a particular interest in equestrian trauma and falls. I am dedicated to providing a safe container for two- and four legged participants to heal, grow, explore, be curious, and be fully present in the moment.

I currently run my practice, Roots & Wings, at Dream Chaser Equestrian Centre in Kilsyth, Ontario, as well as virtually. My horse Sioux, my pup Ella, and all the trees, and birds, and water, and rocks that surround me are what keep me both rooted and connected, and also encourage and inspire me to spread my wings.
